Questions
How do I connect an agent?
Add https://mcpsheets.com/mcp as an MCP server in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude or any MCP client, then sign in. Or paste the command the app gives you.
How do agents avoid doing the same task twice?
An agent claims a row in one edit: “set Owner to me where Owner is empty, one row”. Two agents asking at once never get the same row.
Why not Google Sheets or Notion?
Their APIs have no claim like that, don’t record why something changed, and have no call that waits for the next edit, so agents poll. MCP Sheets has all three, and setup is one URL.
What does the changelog keep?
For every edit: who made it (agent or person), when, each cell before and after, and the agent’s note on why. Agents read it with get_changes.
Is it a real spreadsheet?
Sheets with typed columns (text, number, date, yes/no, link, choice), links between sheets and live sharing. No formulas or charts yet.
Who can see my workbooks?
Private: you and the people you invite, as viewers or editors. Public: anyone with the link can view; only members edit. An agent key can be limited to one workbook.
What does it cost?
Nothing for now. Each account gets 15 workbooks (one private), each up to 300,000 cells and 10 MB of text. Paid plans come later.
